Value creation

The promotion and the dissemination of research results takes several forms:

Publications

• Articles in peer reviewed scientific journals.
• Books (and chapters) by well-known publishers such as Armand Colin, Le Seuil, Lavoisier, Ashgate, Springer, etc.
• Papers presented at peer-reviewed French and international conferences.
• Research papers available freely on the Internet.
• Coordination of the international journal Safety Science.
• Coordination of the online journal Safety Cultures. This journal makes available to very broad readership hundreds of articles on work carried out by the CRC and its partners.
• The publication and distribution of a four-page newsletter (Acturisques), published quarterly, which presents the latest news from CRC.

All of CRC's publications are indexed by the HAL MINES service, which contains almost 500 references.

Scientific conferences

The CRC organises, on a very regular basis, national and international conferences, seminars and workshops. Between 2008-2012 these events brought together more than 1500 participants.

Conferences for business

Each year, the CRC organises on average three conferences dedicated to commercial companies. Each conference brings together 100-150 participants. Themes for the year are determined in advance. For 2013, three conferences are planned on the themes of Global Risk Management, Risk and Information Systems and Safety Culture.

The HSE Prevention Specialists 'Observatory'

In 2010, the CRC and the company PREVENTEO created an 'observatory' of HSE prevention specialists. This was based on a database, developed by CRC, that brought together more than 16,000 qualified personnel (HSE specialists, managers, human resource directors, occupational physicians, Health and Safety Committee members, consultants, etc.). This database made it possible to carry out two large-scale quantitative investigations (each with 800 participants) about the HSE profession and the relationship with compliance and certification. The database is also used for the coordination of seminars, to find internships for Master's students, to put together collaborative projects, to implement the results of doctoral work in businesses, etc.

A special R&D partnership with a leading-edge technology SME: PREVENTEO

The CRC is the co-inventor of the software platform for global risk management known as PREVENTEO. This platform is operated, developed and available as a product from PREVENTEO. The CRC and PREVENTEO have signed a contract for joint collaboration, which addresses questions of intellectual property and royalties (each year the CRC receives, in the form of a royalty a percentage of PREVENTEO's revenue). All of the platforms modules are registered with the French Software Protection Association (Association pour la Protection des Programmes). Each year, CRC co-organises, with PREVENTEO, the PREVENTEO user's club. Held over a period of two days, the club brings together the platform's users. It is an opportunity to catch up with news, identify operational needs in the domain of risk management, and think about the future development of the software platform over the next 2-3 years.

The CRC website

Available in French and English, the website aims to clearly summarise all of CRC's activities. It also aims to provide visitors with useful knowledge and tools, such as: the CVs of our researchers, lists of publications, lists of completed and ongoing doctoral research, lists of collaborative projects, etc.
